I personal two MacBook Professional computer systems:
- MacBook Professional inbuilt 2012, working macOS Catalina Model 10.15.7.
- MacBook Professional inbuilt 2021, working macOS Monterey Model 12.0.1.
I’ve a Bluetooth-capable Raspberry Pi working Ubuntu Linux. I’m thinking about utilizing the OBEX Object Push service to push a file into each of the MacBook Professional computer systems. I can join each computer systems to the Raspberry Pi:

BUT, regardless that my 2012 MacBook Professional permits pushing of information to it:
The brand new 2021 MacBook Professional doesn’t:
Why?
I’ve checked that in each computer systems file sharing is enabled. I even wrote a script to discover companies provided by the brand new laptop:
import bluetooth
import sys
nearby_devices = bluetooth.discover_devices(lookup_names=True, flush_cache=True, length=20)
if not nearby_devices:
print('Might NOT discover any system. Exiting...')
sys.exit(0)
print(nearby_devices)
for system in nearby_devices:
print(system)
service_matches = bluetooth.find_service()
for match in service_matches:
print(match)
Script behaves bizarre… as in generally it finds the brand new laptop and generally it does NOT. When it does discover it, that is what I get:
$ python3 plain_file_transfer_obex_new.py
[('F8:4D:89:61:D1:60', 'Eduardo’s 2021 MacBook Pro')]

BUT, mosft usually than not, it returns that it will probably’t discover any system, regardless that the brand new laptop is linked. I observed a distinction between the outdated and the brand new and that’s that the brand new has the AirDrop characteristic, which I’ve disabled, but no luck. Additionally, I’ve tried all steps laid out right here by Apple Help group.
Is there any step I’m lacking to execute on the brand new MacBook that may enable this apart from enabling Bluetooth file sharing on System Preferences?
