GamesBeat Summit 2022 returns with its largest occasion for leaders in gaming on April 26-Twenty eighth. Reserve your spot right here!
I used to be sitting down to put in writing this, all ready to speak some extra about Ghostwire: Tokyo and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, and different video games that I’ve been taking part in this week. Then I seen an e mail saying that Rockstar is launching a brand new subscription service known as GTA+. This paid service — it prices $5.99 a month — for this 10-year-old MMO is unique to next-gen consoles. It gives a collection of extras for many who wish to pay for it.
So in honor of Rockstar’s . . . initiative, I’m saying the launch of GamesBeat+. You don’t must pay something for it, and also you don’t actually get something besides the privilege to learn some extra of my ideas each week. And it’ll nonetheless be known as Kaser Focus, as a result of this pun is the one purpose for my household title to exist.
It’s been a little bit of a combined bag this week. The excellent news is that we’re apparently getting some nice new video games: CD Projekt Crimson is making a brand new Witcher. Illfonic introduced a brand new Ghostbusters 4v1 multiplayer title. There was different excellent news this week: Epic raised $50 million from Fortnite to donate to humanitarian aid in Ukraine. We bought a number of nice video games launched this week. It hasn’t been so unhealthy.
However within the not so nice information, we’ve heard that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is getting delayed. EA Sports activities PGA Tour was delayed as nicely. Delays are by no means enjoyable. The worst information to me is {that a} decide is seemingly getting ready to approve a settlement within the Activision Blizzard sexual harassment go well with. This could imply that the most important firm will pay out $18 million to make their issues go away. This settlement may additionally undercut the Division of Truthful Employment and Housing case, which continues to be ongoing. It’ll be disappointing if this entire endeavor ends with Activision Blizzard paying out pocket change and nothing else.
