We launched the fifth version of our ebook Superior Swift a number of days in the past. You should buy the e-book on the objc.io web site. The hardcover print version is printed and bought by Amazon (amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.de).
Highlights of the brand new version:
- Totally up to date for Swift 5.6
- A brand new Concurrency chapter overlaying async/await, structured concurrency, and actors
- New content material on property wrappers, consequence builders, protocols, and generics
- The print version is now a hardcover (for a similar worth)
- Free replace for house owners of the e-book
A rising ebook for a rising language
Updating the ebook all the time seems to be extra work than I anticipate. Swift has grown considerably since our final launch (for Swift 5.0), and the scale of the ebook displays this. The fifth version is 76 % longer than the primary version from 2016. This time, we barely stayed beneath 1 million characters:
Many because of our editor, Natalye, for studying all this and bettering our Dutch/German dialect of English.
Hardcover
For the primary time, the print version is available in hardcover (for a similar worth). Having the ability to provide this makes me very pleased. The hardcover ebook seems significantly better and is extra prone to keep open when laid flat on a desk.
We additionally elevated the web page measurement from 15×23 cm (6×9 in) to 18×25 cm (7×10 in) to maintain the web page depend manageable (Amazon’s print on demand service limits hardcover books to 550 pages).
I hope you want the brand new version. In case you resolve to purchase the ebook or if you happen to purchased it previously, thanks very a lot! I hope you take pleasure in it. And if you happen to’re keen to write down a evaluate on Amazon, we’d recognize it.
