Usually Google will record a website in its search outcomes with the area title, not the IP deal with related to the area title. However for those who see each and in case your website is crawlable through the IP, it’s not going to result in your website being deindexed by Google, mentioned John Mueller.
John mentioned this in a Reddit thread the place the consumer mentioned “my IP deal with is being listed for pages and truly rating.” Reality is, that isn’t so unusual – I see it quite a bit.
John Mueller of Google mentioned “having a replica through IP deal with is just not nice, however would not end in a website disappearing from Search.” He truly mentioned one thing like this again in 2017.
John posted a really lengthy response there concerning the website, saying his points are seemingly not technical website positioning associated in any respect. Here’s what John wrote, it’s a good thread to learn:
Unattainable to say with out wanting on the website, however my guess is this isn’t a technical challenge.
Wanting on the visitors since 2012 is irrelevant – issues have modified considerably over time. In the event you’re on pages 4+ and getting ca 100 guests/month, you are going to see quite a lot of fluctuation and people numbers aren’t going to be related.
The one manner a technical challenge might end in points like this is able to be for those who had a noindex on all pages, which I doubt is the case.
Having a replica through IP deal with is just not nice, however would not end in a website disappearing from Search. Normally it simply signifies that in Analytics you see visitors for each variations and it kinda shifts again & forth because the canonical adjustments (which it in all probability would not for many websites anyway – it is fairly frequent to be accessible through IP deal with). If the IP deal with model attracted the majority of your website’s hyperlinks, that could be one thing to consider, however truthfully, that nearly by no means occurs, “no one” hyperlinks to IP addresses naturally.
In case your website is rating on pages 4+ and simply cannot get greater, then my guess is you are attempting to compete with one thing that is fairly far under (by way of high quality, content material, exterior assist, and so on) the principle websites being proven. If that is the case, I would attempt to determine the possibilities that your website will break by means of to web page 1 (if you would like considerably bigger numbers, that is the place you in all probability have to be), work out what you’d have to do to get there, and evaluate that to simply dropping this venture and dealing on one thing else to get comparable visitors. My *guess* is it will be considerably extra environment friendly to simply transfer on to one thing else. I understand that is annoying, however realistically for those who simply transfer to web page 3 and get 10x the visitors for some time, will that actually be definitely worth the smaller effort? As a substitute, purpose for one thing the place you possibly can clearly be the highest consequence primarily based on the issues that you simply’re good at, the issues which can be realistically inside your attain. In the event you get that found out, you possibly can all the time return to this website too 🙂
In the event you take this and go “I will present that dude that it is doable” – go for it. I simply need to be clear that it is not a matter of technical tweaks or minimal effort, it is going to be quite a lot of laborious work (or, doubtlessly, quite a lot of “voodoo website positioning magic” that will get you a short lived enhance — some SEOs are super-creative, kinda-sneaky, and sensible, and might probably do this, however remember the fact that it will not be a long-term resolution).
