Deerpark – On April 5, 2022, New York State Police responded to a deadly fall on the Hawk’s Nest within the city of Deerpark. A preliminary investigation revealed that Binh Ledinh, age 42 from the city of Lumberland, was flying a drone on State Route 97/ Hawk’s Nest within the early hours. At roughly 7:32 a.m. the drone crashed 17 ft down an embankment. Mr. Ledinh tried to retrieve the drone and fell roughly 250 ft.
At 12:10 p.m. Mr. Ledinh’s spouse contacted the New York State Police Wurtsboro to report him lacking. Troopers positioned his car, a 2010 Honda CRV on the Hawk’s Nest at roughly 1:45 p.m. and positioned Mr. Ledinh a short while later. Mr. Ledinh couldn’t be reached by foot due to the steep terrain. The Orange County Technical Rescue Workforce lowered themselves to Mr. Ledinh and decided he was deceased. He was then lowered right into a rescue boat within the Delaware River the place he was then transported to the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Workplace.
