Extremely Protected Nuclear Company (USNC), a developer of Micro Modular Reactor (MMR) programs for the manufacturing of nuclear power, has acquired two Desktop Steel X-Collection binder jet 3D printers with two extra to observe later this 12 months.

USNC already had a small-format InnoventX put in at its Salt Lake Metropolis facility, and can now add the bigger X25 Professional and X160Pro programs. These machines have been the topic of a slight rebrand since Desktop Steel’s acquisition of ExOne final 12 months.

With these 3D printing programs, USNC will look to utilise their capability to print silicon carbide, a technical ceramic with excessive environmental stability. USNC makes use of nuclear-grade silicon carbide to create shapes and kinds that safely encompass nuclear gasoline particles to allow its ‘Totally Ceramic Micro-encapsulated (FCM) gasoline innovation.’ FCM is utilized by USNC to gasoline its MMR power programs that are designed to generate clear, low-cost power. Testing of this expertise is presently underway by the Nuclear Analysis & Consultancy Group within the Netherlands, whereas venture licensing is being explored with the Canadian Nuclear Security Fee and a deployment ready at Chalk River Laboratories.

“Binder jetting is a low-cost, high-yield, dependable course of for our advanced serial manufacturing,” commented Dr. Kurt A Terrani, Govt Vice President of USNC’s Core Division. “The superior materials functionality of the X-Collection machines is prime to our modern strategy to gasoline design.”

“Driving mass adoption of additive manufacturing requires scalable programs able to printing high-performance supplies that allow probably the most modern purposes,” added Desktop Steel co-founder and CEO Ric Fulop. “We’re proud to help the mission of USNC with versatile binder jetting expertise that takes clients all the way in which to manufacturing and helps play a task in fixing global-scale issues with additive manufacturing options.”
