Why the Moon Appears Brighter in Winter

We had our first coating of snow this week. (It is uncommon to go this late into fall with out having a snowfall). As I used to be placing my daughters to mattress final night time my oldest requested why it was so brilliant exterior. My brief reply was that the snow mirrored the road lights and the moon gentle. That is only a small a part of the explanation why the moon appears brighter within the winter.
